running out of time

I'm supposed to be packed up and on the road early tomorrow a.m. When I left my office Friday night I thought I had the weekend all figured out; Saturday I would get the laundry done and have everything ready to be packed; today I would pack, get my knitting projects organized to take, etc. etc. and so on. Well. The big fella invited a whack of people for supper last night; it was fun, there was eight of us for supper, but that meant I spent the day cooking, cleaning, etc. The most delightful part was having a very old friend who happened to be passing through stop in for coffee in the afternoon and she stayed for supper and visiting. It was so good to see her, catch up, etc. And she's a fellow knitter (and she spins) so we had lots to talk about. I enjoyed that.

Supper was good, the company great. We finally emptied the house about 10:30; then I went to bed. We were woken up at 4 a.m. when the big fella was called out to help out one of the guys on night shift. I usually barely wake up when he gets called out. But I woke right up, started thinking about everything I needed to get done, etc. and was awake until 05:30 hours. At least Sabrina was content to sleep in until 8 this a.m.

We went out for our morning walk, then I showered up and started laundry. I'm still running around disorganized, but once I do this entry I can pack my laptop away and that's one more thing to check off the list. I have my conference stuff sorted out, now I just have to determine what clothes and gear I'm packing for my holidays.

Sabrina's new Chilly Dogs sweater came on Friday. She is actually quite thrilled with it, this photo all evidence to the contrary. We drove out for supper and she came along and was very toasty warm in her new sweater.

The sock progress, such as it is. I am keeping these in the car with me tomorrow for when I'm not driving. I also have some other sock yarn to bring so I can start another pair in my travels.

The crocheted ripple afghan. That's Patons Decor in ... some autumn variegation. Nice colours. I decided to not bring this along on our trip; too bulky and I really do want to just knit socks while I'm gone.

I have a million things to do and not enough time to get them done. I still have to go and track down my government vehicle; it seems to have gone MIA. I will post while I'm away, as long as I have some sort of internet access where we end up going!

Her knee and posture, she looks so goofy. It reminds me of some of my old school pics. ;p

What a bummer about the picnic.

Next summer if you can, you guys should try to come down to the Greyhound Gathering in Kanab UT--it won't get rained out. We'll go if you guys go.
