59 Chevy Blue Chevron Cloth Pattern

4.5 mm (US#7) needles

Worsted weight cotton yarn

I used Bernat Handicrafter in "Blueberry" colour, which looks like the turquoise/robin's egg blue car paint of the fifties & sixties. The texture pattern is reverse stocking stitch chevrons (wavey Vee things).

Cast on 41 stitches.

Work four rows in garter stitch before beginning pattern.

Keep 3 stitches of garter stitch at either end of the row (so knit the first and last three stitches of each row). I have not incorporated the garter stitch border into the pattern below, so the 35 stitches of the chevron pattern are:

(multiple of 6) plus 5:

Row 1: K5; (p1 K5) repeat to end

Row 2: K1; (p3 k3) repeat to last 4; p3, k1

Row 3: P2; (k1 p1) repeat to end

Row 4: P1; (k3 p3) repeat to last 4; k3, p1

Row 5: K2; (p1 k5) repeat to last 3; p1, k2

Row 6: purl across

Repeat these six rows to desired length. Work four rows garter stitch then cast off.

Cloth is about 9.5 inches wide and as long as you prefer.
